Recently, I have had a lot of queries on Whatsaap Group regarding which training to do to be an HSE Professionals. The following is my opinion on the subject matter: The training you would need depends on many variables:
1. Where do you want to work? Locally in your own
country or internationally. If you want to work internationally, you need to complete
training/education which is recognized internationally. The qualifications of many countries are not readily
accepted all over the world.
2. What is your career goal in life? Do you want to
become a change agent or do you want to be a practitioner all your life? To become a member of the
HSE fraternity who will contribute to the direction the occupation is taking, you need to set
yourself up for a career of research.
3. How much can you afford? This will determine
whether you will go for a university degree directly or take the slower route by doing smaller training
and work your way upwards.
4. How much time do you have available for study? Full
programs require a lot more dedication and free time to enable you to be successful.
5. What resources do you have available? Many online
study programs require an intensive online presence and access to stable internet. If this is not
available to you, rather attend shorter duration classroom education.
